Three-time All-Star Bradley Beal has agreed to a buyout with the Phoenix Suns and is planning to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers on a two-year, $11 million deal, including a player option, upon clearing waivers, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
By including a player option for 2026–27, Beal, 32, is positioned to be one of the top names on the free agent market next summer.
After a disappointing two-year stint with the Suns, Beal and his camp focused on finding the right basketball opportunity. The Suns granted him permission to speak with other teams, and his agent, Mark Bartelstein, conducted an extensive process over several weeks to help Beal decide to move on from Phoenix and choose his next landing spot.
The Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Los Angeles Lakers were among the teams that engaged in serious discussions with Beal and Bartelstein in recent weeks.
To finalize the buyout with the Suns, Beal is giving back $13.9 million of the $110 million owed over the final two years of his contract. Phoenix will likely use the waive-and-stretch provision over five years.
Beal brings career averages of 21.5 points, 4.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 37.6% from three to the Clippers.
Beal put up 17.6 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds on 50.5% shooting and 40.7% from three during his two seasons with the Suns. He shot a career-high 57% on twos and 66% on layups and dunks last season. Still, injuries and team struggles limited him to just 106 of 164 games.
Beal spent the first 11 seasons of his NBA career with the Washington Wizards, earning All-Star selections in 2018, 2019, and 2021, and an All-NBA Third Team nod in 2021.
