The Dallas Mavericks are shutting down Cooper Flagg for the rest of summer league play after just two games, according to longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein.

After scoring 31 points in a highly anticipated matchup with No. 2 pick Dylan Harper and the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, the Mavericks shut down the No.1 pick Flagg for the rest of the tournament.

After struggling with just 10 points on 5-of-21 shooting in his debut against the Los Angeles Lakers, Flagg acknowledged the nerves he felt in his first appearance, saying "I was obviously a little nervous. It's a new environment, you know, a lot of new fans and whatnot. So, I was a little nervous and a little excited, but just happy to be here and it's a dream come true. So I'm just trying to enjoy the moment."

Flagg responded by hitting 10 of his 21 shots in his second summer league game.

"I think it's a new environment, new setting," Flagg said after Saturday's 76-69 loss to the Spurs. "They want to see me be aggressive and do that type of stuff.

“I think I did that a lot better today, just getting to the line, getting fouled, and that helped me to get comfortable and get settled in early. Still missed a bunch of free throws. I know my mom probably wasn't very happy with that."

Mavericks summer league coach Josh Broghamer praised Flagg after Saturday’s game, saying he “just continues to make the right plays” and credited him for his impact. “off the ball.”
