The New York Knicks and Mikal Bridges have agreed on a four-year, $150 million extension, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal includes a player option for 2029-30 and a trade kicker.

Bridges accepted less than the maximum in order to help the Knicks stay below the second apron and stay in championship contention. New York now has six core players signed through the next two years.

This move follows the Knicks’ recent hiring of Mike Brown as head coach, replacing Tom Thibodeau. Brown now takes over a New York squad coming off its first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years.

The Knicks acquired Bridges in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets last summer in what was the first trade between the two franchises since 1983. New York sent five first-round picks, a first-round pick swap, a second-round pick, and Bojan Bogdanovic to the Nets.

After a rocky start to last season, Bridges eventually found his footing as the defensive anchor. His impact was felt in the playoffs, where he came up with key stops that helped the Knicks advance past the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics.

Offensively, Bridges ranked among the NBA’s most efficient shooters from mid-range.

Now, both Bridges and the Knicks are locked in as they continue their pursuit of a long-awaited championship.
